We’ve been hearing about the custom music app that has been slated to hit CyanogenMod 9 soon, and an alpha version of “Apollo” has been released to the public. It’ll work on any ICS phone, rooted or not, CM9 or not, which is great for the stock crowd running official ICS. You can grab the APK here.
The app is very similar to Google Play Music. One major difference is, of course, that you can’t access Play Music from Apollo, as Google hasn’t released those APIs yet. But all other functionality has remained intact. It’s ICS styled, but all white.
Really, it’s nothing special right now. It’s just another music app. And being all white, it’s really not something I’d use. They need to integrate a black setting. Theme support is planned, but the omission of a simple black setting is strange. It also has no landscape mode for docks or car cradles, which makes it unusable for a big crowd of people. Otherwise, it’s a solid offering and you may very well like it. Check it out, and tell us what you think in the comments.
