Aviate - An Intelligent Andoid Launcher Acquired by Yahoo for $80M

Aviate is an intelligent home screen replacement Android app which was recently acquired by Yahoo for $80M.

During CES 2014, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer was on hand to deliver a keynote. During the keynote, she mentioned that Yahoo had just purchased a company called Aviate. That company makes software that replaces the standard home screen on Android devices.

Aviate automatically categorizes all of your apps, and intelligently rearranges your homescreen throughout the day to dynamically give you the apps and information you need most, at precisely the moment you need it.

Aviate uses a variety of factors, including the time of day and your location to determine what you’re likely doing, and provide the appropriate apps, buttons, and links for that moment. For example, when you wake up and unlock your phone, Aviate provides a widget filled with your next few appointments, the weather, and even an icon for Twitter, since you like to scan news headlines in the morning. On the way to work, Aviate pops up Waze, Pandora, and Gas Buddy. When you head out to lunch, your home screen adapts itself to the restaurant you’re in, providing photos and tips from Foursquare, as well as the option to check in. As you walk to your car after happy hour that evening, Aviate pops up quick links to get directions home and check on traffic. When you plug in your headphones for an evening walk, your music apps appear. And finally, as you slump into bed after a long day, your home screen includes a new "Set Alarm" button, and a link to your Kindle app.

Now, Aviate is finally free for everyone to try on the Google Play store, and all it takes it to put in “YAHOO” when it asks you for a code.

iPhone 6 Air Initial Leaks

Apple will release two new models in 2014. But unlike last year when both the Apple iPhone 5s and Apple iPhone 5c sported 4 inch glass, this year one new iPhone will wear a 4.7 inch screen, while the other will be a phablet sized 5.7 inches.

Additionally, both models will offer an undisclosed form of biometrics. This could mean that both models could feature the Touch ID fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button of the Apple iPhone 5s, or it could mean that Apple will be using an eye scanner.

First images of the metal housing iPhone 6, or " iPhone Air ", appeared on the web. The rear of the metal housing of small thickness presumably serves as a basis for the new flagship Apple.

The thickness of the iPhone Air will be only 6 mm, and the screen size will be 4.7 or 5.7 inches as mentioned earlier.

iPhone camera module supplier Largan Precision saw its stock take a significant dip yesterday amid rumors that Apple will not be upgrading the resolution of the rear camera for the iPhone 6 later this year, reports The China Post.

The report cites analysts from Nomura Securities who indicate that while the iPhone 6 should see some camera improvements such as enhanced optical image stabilization, the device will continue to use an 8-megapixel sensor rather than a higher-resolution sensor in the 12-16 megapixel range.

Nevertheless, this information can not be considered reliable, so treat it critically.
